THE YAKUTAT TERN FESTIVAL
MISSION STATEMENT
The Yakutat Tern Festival wishes to highlight the extraordinary natural and cultural resources of Yakutat by establishing a festival celebrating Aleutian terns.

The Yakutat area boasts the southernmost known and one of the largest breeding colonies of Aleutian terns within its range.
​
It is the intent of this festival to support, unify, and educate the community by promoting ecotourism and connect people with wildlife and the outdoors
OUR GOALS
Increase ecotourism and stimulate the local economy
Establish a community-driven festival
Awaken outside communities to the opportunities of ecotourism in Yakutat.
Establish an annual event.
Educate local communities on migratory and resident birds, the importance of their habitat, and conservation issues.
Proceeds from the festival will be used towards future ecotourism / birding festival projects.
